Ms. Tonya Dickens holds a Bachelor's Degree in piano performance from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. While at Miami University. as an undergraduate, she sang in and accompanied the Collegiate Chorale, as well as served as a piano accompanist for many singers. After graduation, she returned to Miami University and earned a Master's degree in Music Education. During her graduate studies, Ms. Dickens sang in and accompanied the Chamber Singers, and continued to accompany vocal students. During her educational career at Miami, she was involved with the opera ensemble as both singer and accompanist, in addition to accompanying and vocal directing several musicals for the theater department.
Ms. Dickens taught for 16 years in the Norwood City School District in Norwood, Ohio (a community north of downtown Cincinnati). While teaching in the Norwood City School District, she taught all age levels and served as the vocal director for both Norwood Middle School and Norwood High School. In addition to teaching, she has worked as an accompanist/vocal director for musical theater at local high schools and community theaters in the Greater Cincinnati area.
She began teaching at LRHS in 2013.
